Kevin "The Big Bully" Garnett

With the Boston Celtics winning last year's championship, KG has solidified his place as one of the dominant and most respected player in the league. This year's team has gained numerous nods from all corners of the court for keeping the intensity level up and playing every game as a championship-caliber team. It's easy to say that most of the credit goes to KG for releasing the beast within to his teammates!

Some may applaud at this feat but I''m sure not everyone would agree about KG's on-court celebration. For those who are still confused, I present to you...

Exhibit A - Jose Calderon

Exhibit B - Glen Davis (you have to admit that this is hilarious!)

Kicksology: First Edition

To mark my first entry since god knows when, I shall introduce to the world this new section-kicksology, where I will feature shoes that will make your useless time on the internet worth spending. And it's just timely that for my first edition I have the honor to feature the People's Champion, Manny Pacquiao.
Photobucket
The existence of this shoe makes me even prouder for our World Champ not only for making De La Hoya retire but for being the first Filipino to have a signature Nike shoe.
Photobucket
Drool over the intricate details that represents P.I.

As most Pinoys are, Manny is no exception to have passion for basketball. As one of the best pound for pound fighter in world right now, Nike honored Manny with a shoe of his own-NIKE AIR MAX BIZNESS PE.

Aside from our own, this shoe is also been worn by Zach Randolph and Richard Jefferson.

Free 50 Track Download From Eggboy

DOWNLOAD FOR FREE EGGBOY'S NEW ALBUM “50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK”
Eggboy - “50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK” is the unofficial release of Project Runway Philippine's soundtrack. It includes 50 electronic instrumental tracks in mp3 format including instrumental versions of some Eggboy classics “Just Can't Let You Stay, “Nagsasawa Ka Na Ba?” plus Eggboy Vs. Spazzkid tracks “Experiment 1d”, “Disposable Cup Hussle”, and “Running Off”. All zipped into a 2 part folder (196.8 MB)-- let's see how fast you download this brada? Enjoy!

About “50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK”

"Fortunately I was able to cut a deal with client that I still am the owner of the music used in the series. The story of '50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK' started in mid 2008 when I bagged the job to score the show, it was a rush job and I was given only two weeks before deadline. Although the moment I got the job, I was getting ready to check in my pregnant wife in the hospital who could give birth at anytime.

Eventually, I spent my first week in the hospital (without a laptop, my music making machine is in a desktop at home) and just kept in mind the task I'm suppose to bag the following week which was to submit “55 pieces” of music.

When we came out of the hospital and of course after we settled down, I did the job almost 10 songs a day, just hitting all kinds of genres and as much as possible I tried to like the work I did, and I'm also following the director's (Marie Jamora) guidelines.

It's an exaggeration when I say that I did 50 pieces of music in a week, when deadline came I roughly was able to finish 40 and later some were disapproved but most of it went straight to the series. In the end of the whole project I made almost 80 pieces including stingers, bumpers, and disapproved tracks.

'50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK' is a collection of my personal faves, including some that were disapproved, and some I see fit into the collection.

Nonetheless, I strongly feel even if you've never seen the show, “50 INSTRMNTLS N A WK” is still interesting to throw into your digital players. What can you lose, it's all for free? Download it while link lasts!"

THE NEXT BIG THING AFTER THE EHEADS CONCERT...

Photobucket
After Katipunan's most popular band took hostage of the whole Manila, now let's turn the spotlight to the top ranking Katipunan based basketball team. It's ATENEO vs LA SALLE!!!

This game has always been the hottest basketball ticket in town! Whether it's a non-bearing game, it doesn't even matter. The game has always been about school pride! I believe some people would even say that sweeping ADMU for the season is better than getting the championship or vice-versa. So this game doesn't prove much if it makes Ateneo becomes the number one team in the country. The question is, who among the Blue Eagle or the Green Archer will conquer the other?

INTERESTING FACTS DURING THE EHEADS CONCERT

So let's start our did you know portion.

1. Did you know that Jazz Nicolas was part of the recent Eheads concert
Photobucket
According to Raimund,
"he's the eraserheads' secret weapon. playing keys, guitar, tambourine,
singing backup vox and triggering samples.

we don't know how he does it but thank you jazz."
2. Did you know that each member's dressing room was named after their kid's name.

RECORDED EHEADS CONCERT

Photobucket
I dunno who uploaded this but THANKS wherever yo may be. This is a convenient for all who weren't there or those who wanna relive the night. Rather than jumping from one video to another in Youtube, which I did and trust me this is better!

copy paste or just type it in your URL bar, http://www.webt-v.com/

I heard rumors of a plan for a DVD release of the concluded concert which Im hoping but I find it difficult to see because the night was cut short. But I still believe it's possible, im an Eheads fan! :)

Open Letter To The World, Raimund Speaks Up!!!

Photobucket
taken from flickr

I believe this was partly written for the haters out there. Not that they fully deserve the credit but they were the ones who actually spawned this letter. Let me offer these people my two cents worth, don't talk when you have nothing good to say. The problem here is people always assume and when you assume things, you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me". Do the math!

"to whom it may concern

i dont usually rant but ive been hearing reports about people
questioning why we played saguijo after the concert.

first things first. when marlboro pulled out and cancelled the show a
week ago, the band was free of all obligation to play the show. if it
was about the money we could have just walked away fully paid no
explanations to the press or anybody. free from the contract. the band
decided to play nevertheless. the tickets and the prices was for the
new promoters to buy out the production from philip morris to put it
simply. contrary to what some people think it takes money to stage a
concert. stage, lights, and video screens don't magically grow out of
the ground. that's what the ticket prices were for. the band was not
in the negotiation meetings between the the two promoters and we did
not want to be in the meetings.

personally i said just call me cos i'm ready to rock. no extra pay no
contract negotiations. as far as the eheads was concerned were out of
the contract.

but here's what you dont understand. playing music is what we do. we
play when we're happy, play when we're sad, play when we're angry,
play when we're sick, play til we die.

painters paint, writers write, my skateboarding friends skate or die.
when u ask nba superstars what they do in their spare time. they play
basketball.
us musicians, we play. thats what we do. getting paid is a bonus. i
will not apologize for that. when we don't get paid we still play.

we played saguijo because we wanted to, we needed to. our hearts and
souls dictated it. we could just go home and sleep. we did not talk
about it. there was no invites there was no plan. we did not get paid.
we borrowed equipment.

yes ely knew about it. buddy told him the next day. yes pupil was in
saguijo too.

yes marcus buddy and i have lost a parent. we know how it feels.

ive been playing music for more than 30 years. professionally since
1993.there have been a few times when it was me who was unable to
continue the set due to illness. albeit it was a lesser scale and
(thankfully) never reported. it was nonetheless life threatening. ive
had a run in with losing my voice, food poisoning, diarreah
(embarassing) and a few more i do not care to mention that involved
blood and bones. i had to drop out of the set from the eheads, cambio
and sandwich. thankfully there was always someone there to finish the
set for me. and i am thankful that they were there. i did not feel
bad. ive also saved a few shows from other bands when shit happens. we
dont plan this and we dont complain but we still play.

my bmx friends ride with broken bones.

if we finished the eheads show that night you would STILL have found
us in guijo playing after.

yes i visited ely in the hospital yesterday. i hope he recovers soon.
we have a show to finish.

music is life
ill only stop playing when i die.

Eraserheads Reunion Part 2!!!

It's been three days since but the hangover from the Eheads concert is still lingering in every fans head. But what mostly haunts everyone is the question about Ely's health and if there is part2 to this unsettled part1? The past few days has been nostalgic and magical for everyone. It's as if the reunion put love in the air. And much like Pacquiao's fights, half of the city's attention was directed to these four UP alumni.

So what really happened after the show? Watch and see my friends...
Singing "Magasin"

"after the first set i was so hyped. i went looking for buddy to check up on him cos his bass effects was malfunctioning.

i found him coming out of ely's tent and said ely was rushed to the hospital. we were all stunned and after a quick production meeting and meeting with his family we had to announce that the concert had to be cut short.

we prepared 3 sets. the first was just a warm up. the remaining two was going to be the fun part.

there was more videos and light shows and pyro in store for everyone.

after getting fans family and friends safely out of the venue maps and i headed over to saguijo bar to meet sandwich pedicab cambio and some friends to hang.

after a few beers buddy arrives so we decided to play the second set on borrowed equipment. thanx to mark maya for the stix. we had a little help from ebe, kris, vin, aia and tani. by the time we were playing el bimbo marcus shows up so he got to play also.

i guess we just did not want to go home to our posh hotel rooms all down and defeated. i'm thankful we have great friends to support us, cheer us up when we're sad, pick us up when we're down.

here's my new motto

Eraserheads Reunion concert: The Before And After

Photobucket
I was thinking of the best way to express the MOST AWAITED CONCERT OF THE DECADE IN PHILIPPINE LAND but i was having a hard time. All I can think of were still images in my head of the crowded streets, expired countdown timer, contained emotions as opposed to the roaring fans, and the four piece band composed of Ely Bunedia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala and Raimund Marasigan.

Photobucket
I checked my mail today and saw an email from Raimund Marasigan. He talks all about the madness coming to the concert.

"hey kids

its been unbelievably crazy these past few days. i taped a few tugtugan episodes with pedicab and rivermaya, taped a pedicab myx live episode, played a cambio gig in route 196 ,paid our respects to tita lizette, played a sandwich gig in up manila, finish mixing the duster album and take care of last minute production details.

marilou and r.a. treated me to something green and hairy. maps played imago and duster gigs. tarikim skipped school.i gave tix to the teachers haha.

i love my job. i thank God for this opportunity and blessing.

we had soundcheck midnight last night. my drum kit was tuned and inspected by cholo of ernville and mike d. thanx for the cymbals cholo

i got jamie and the sherps mickey, tel and jerry as my crew.

brand new dad darwin was there. soupstar's got a new baby in the family.

a few friends dropped by. the ichyworms, pupil, mark maya and aia, sinosikat, direk quark, erwin romulo, direk marie, and then some.

i'm a bit embarrassed were getting super rockstar treatment. we're checked in a five star hotel, assigned a chauffeured van each, personal bodyguards (which i refused until later tonight) and we can actually raid the mini bar haha(after 20 years in rock n roll).

i didn't get enough sleep. for the first time i'm actually excited about the concert. went to the gym to sweat out last night's beer. i'm having bacon eggs and fruits in the room as i'm typing this.

earnest just dropped veda off. the kids are trashing the room. ill get a massage when they go swimming.

i can't wait to play. i'll see you all tonight.

be safe

rayms
"
Everyone has their own Eheads experience. It is in these experiences that we get to connect with the band. Although time has passed and for a time (before the whole concert was born) these Eheads moments were a thing of our past, shelved as part of history, and much like our childhood memories we can never go back to.

Then the unexpected happened which shook the whole nation! It was wild. It was a prank played to us by life. Very sneaky!
Photobucket
Lines started to point us to the ticket booths, while the street signs illuminated with "THIS WAY TO EHEADS CONCERT". It was a dream no one didn't want to end.

The show as expected by many didn't end with a bang. In a good way it didn't but in a surprising way-yes. The concert closed down in a rather yet sneaky way again with Ely's heart condition became critical again.

Again the unexpected happen but theirs nothing more to ask but give thanks to the band and for a speedy recovery to Ely.

For the latest update,

"dear everybody

before anything. i just spoke to day cabuhat. and she informed me that
ely's condition is now stable. and they're very thankful for all your concern.

thank you very much for coming t the show. we really felt the cheering
and the singing and the love you all gave.

thank you for understanding that the show had to be cut short.

ely was in no condition (emotionally, physically) to play but he did. and he gave it his all which is more than we could ask from him. given the circumstances he was in.

we all wish him well. we are all confident that he will recover soon.

i promise to give you another eraserheads show as soon as possible.

again thank you very much

For those who don't know it yet here are the changes for the Eheads concert:

2) The concert won't be free anymore. To purchase your own copy, the details are above.

3) It's gonna be on August 30, Saturday. Gates open at 3:00 pm at Bonifacio Global City Open Grounds.

Eraserheads Reunion Update

Photobucket
This is an over due post. hehe! Sorry for the delay (talking to Eheads fans).

I bring in good news courtesy of Subsandwich (Sandwich's mailing list). This has been posted there a couple of weeks ago but only came to my senses now that I should have posted this before. Here's what Raimund Marasigan has to say about the upcoming concert.

"last monday the erserheads met and rehearsed for the first time.

nobody knew what to expect. it was a little uncomfortable since we havent communicated for a long time. but im pleased to announce that the band was playing better than i ever remembered. i guess we all did our homework haha.

i wont say how many songs we finished but it was a lot. there was a lot of drums and no drama.

MDK presents: Harold and Kumar2 Escape from Guantanamo Bay

If you there was a movie genre more deeper than comedy which precisely talks about getting high on drugs, then this definitely would be in for the race. Although this may not be your stoner movie of the year as we haven't been graced by the presence of "The Pineapple Express" yet, it sure does make the cut!

Like journal entries, I can easily tag this movie with the words: weed (you just can't omit that because their whole adventure is based on that!), bong, adventure gone wrong, chicks, Neil Patrick Harris, douche bag characters and the mysterious odd couple! It's hard not to draw comparisons from its predecessor and say they're similar. Look at the tagged words I wrote above and you'd say it's practically the same thing but no. The twist in this movie is all about Kumar's love interest to his ex-girlfriend. What's interesting to see and something to look forward to is Kumar's romantic side. I almost got teary-eyed because yes I'd have to admit it was sweet what he did. You should actually take note of what he did.

A perfect company on a lonely Friday night, with your bottle of beer and a bag of chips to go along. Not crazy funny as hell but it's enough to keep you through the night!

Here's the poem recited by Kumar from the movie:

The Square Root of 3 by Dave Feinberg

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

American named Chris singing Itchyworms and other OPM songs

The most amazing thing I've seen today! Nakakabilib at nakakataba ng puso bilang isang pinoy at OPM supporter. A "Joe" singing in tagalog and you have to admit he does it so well even with the guitar playing.

I heard about the band raving about this guy, Chris last night at their guest appearance in a radio show. Talk about luck, they've been getting a lot of recognition from their last two album releases. Last year, jim paredes commended them for being musically genius with Noontime Show, and now here's a dude from the other part of the world playing their songs. The band deserves it!

Eraserheads songs put movie to life

I read in the blog of Mukamo.com that people are planning to do a movie about Eraserheads songs. I think it's nice to spread the talent of those four guys but I feel like they're just milking and riding with their fame. Just a suggestion, I think it would be better if they cast in unkown actors or indie cred actors so that we won't be distracted with how these teeny boppers will basterdize the movie.

here's the actual report,

"Ultraelectromagnetic Love is an upcoming trilogy movie produced by Regal Entertainment, which is based on three Eraserheads songs.

Episode 1 is titled “Tindahan ni Aling Nena,” it will star Glaiza de Castro and Marky Cielo. Episode 2 is titled “Magasin”, it will star the love team of Jennica Garcia and Mart Escudero. The last episode is “Torpedo” and will be lead by Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal. All songs of the movie’s sound track were credited to Eraserheads’ lead singer Ely Buendia as composer and the movie script is penned by Fairlane Raymundo"

Ateneo leads UAAP!!!

Ateneo bumped off the UE Red Warriors from the top of the team standings to lead the UAAP. Winning with a 6 point margin, the Eagles' assault were heavily backed up by Al-Hussaini's strong double double effort of 18 points and 17 boards. Ateneo has been known to hold winning records in the past or even other teams such as UE's impressive 14-0 elimination record last year but still it proves nothing as it wasn't enough to win them the title. With a strong start, already 3-0 from some of the biggest teams in the league (DLSU, UE, FEU) let's see if they can finish strongly.

Final Scores:
NU vs ADU
65 73

ADMU vs UE
64 58

Eraserheads back for a reunion concert this August 2008!!!

Photobucket
The long wait is over and it's finally here! The Eraserheads is back together for a one night concert only at the CCP Open grounds on August 30, 2008. I never saw this coming, nor did I hear any chismis about this. I'm not complaining at all, I'm actually thrilled all of this is happening! Reports say, a big company made this event possible which explains why us Eraserheads fans can only be excited for one night.

I'm happy and all but is it just me that sees things differently. It's so fake that they would gather together for because of this big company paid them for it. Hard times, i know. I was hoping maybe the reunion would be more genuine. Like Ely would always say that when the right time comes, it will happen -talking about their reunion. It's still too early to decide, anything can still happen so let's just wait and see. We're lucky to have been blessed with this special event!

Old Faces In Different Places

Every year, NBA teams ship in and out players to build the best team around the league. With different schemes and styles some work while some don't. This year a number of franchise players look for a new beginning but will Destiny give it to them like she did with Garnett and Allen.
Photobucket
BARON DAVIS. ELTON BRAND. CORREY MAGGETTE. *coughs* JERMAINE O'NEAL. These guys headline the list of traded players this year and even if it's not as impressive as the Boston tea party last year, it's always exciting what these basketball superstars can do!

Here's a list of the traded players:
Baron Davis to LA Clippers
Elton Brand to Philly Sixers
Correy Maggette to GS Warriors
Ronny Turiaf to GS Warriors
Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee Bucks
Yi Jianlian to Nets
Bobby Simmons to Nets
Roger Mason to SA Spurs
Brent Barry to Houston Rockets

Tiu Good To Be True

article written by jefferson reyes

The first of many?

In the much celebrated rivalry of the collegiate basketball scene, the blue trumped over the green as the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles trounced their nemesis and defending champions, De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, 79-73, amidst a jam packed Araneta Coliseum graced by various personalities including NBA superstar Gilbert “Agent Zero” Arenas of the Washington Wizards and People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao as the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 71 continues on July 6.

Witnessed by a massive crowd of approximately 22,000, which also included business and political celebrities such as PLDT and Smart Communications Chairman Manny Pangilinan, Senators Richard Gordon and Mar Roxas, Hans Sy, son of mall tycoon Henry Sy, and US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney, the Blue Eagles handed the Green Archers their first opening game defeat under the mentorship of Coach Franz Pumaren. Free throws made the difference as Ateneo registered a high 81% FT percentage against a meager 44.8% of La Salle.

As with every Ateneo-La Salle meeting, excitement has always been the main element as both teams remained nose-to-nose and refused to relinquish their school pride until the last quarter.

Coming off from a two point deficit from the third frame, DLSU stalwart Joseph Evans “Jvee” Casio resuscitated the hopes of the Archers in the last frame with two successive shots including a fast break from the three-point miss of Blue Eagle Jai Reyes to bring the game 56-60 in favor of DLSU.

Rabeth Al-Hussaini and Severino “Nonoy” Baclao, tried to prevent the rally of the Taft-based squad but faltered as the Green and White veterans Rico Maierhofer and James Mangahas, and rookie Joshua Webb combined to give La Salle its biggest lead against the Blue Eagles, 61-67.

Locked at 67, the Katipunan-based cagers crawled back into the scoreboard courtesy of back to back shots from Jobe Nkemakolam and Al-Husaini to put the Eagles within reach 65-67. It was Eric Salamat’s drive that knotted the game at 67-all fueling Ateneo’s resurgence.

Salamat and Al-Hussaini teamed up to extend Ateneo’s advantage but was equalized by the tandem of Maierhofer and Casio to register the 13th deadlock of the ballgame at 71 apiece with 4:20 ticks remaining.

Back-to-back charities from Tiu and Salamat expanded Ateneo’s lead to 74-71 but Maierhofer’s own free-throw with a minute remaining put DLSU at the edge 74-73. Ateneo sealed the deal when star player Chris Tiu buried two of his three charities after being fouled with 38.5 seconds remaining making it 76-73.

DLSU failed to respond as Blue Eagle Yuri Escueta made all of his charities securing the 79-73 victory for the Blue and White.

In the opening quarter, Tiu was awarded two charities prior to the start of the clock after a technical foul was called to DLSU due to their coaching staff’s non-ID usage.

Following this, Ateneo raged with a 4-0 run holding the Archers scoreless, 6-0. Casio responded with his signature trey with 7:35 left. Tiu did not disappoint as he blasted his own three-pointer to put the game at 9-3 in favor of Ateneo.

La Salle finally awakened as PJ Walsham and Alvin Villanueva pushed the Archers to the game’s first deadlock at 9-9. The game remained tight as the first frame closed, 17-16 with the Blue Eagles on top.

The second quarter saw the turn of tide. The Green and White regained the upper hand, 24-25, following another trey from Casio with 5:55 in the regulation. Maierhofer’s up and under move padded La Salle’s lead, 24-27. Mangahas exploded together with Hyram Bagatsing and Webb to protect the Archers’ advantage closing the second frame, 35-40.

Ryan Buenafe, one of the Blue Eagles’ esteemed rookies, fired back-to-back shots to break away from yet another deadlock in the third, 53-51. Maierhofer answered with a trey with approximately 49 seconds remaining to put back the lead for DLSU, 53-54.

Salamat’s charities put Ateneo on the driver’s seat towards the end of the third frame, 56-54.

Ateneo head coach Norman Black, credited Tiu anew noting that as the Blue Eagles’ best player he delivered as expected and lived up to his role. When asked about the performance of his rookies, Black pointed out that he did not play them that much because of the intensity of the game and the clamor for securing their first victory. Despite this, he sees more playing minutes for them in their future games.

As for the technical foul that was called to him at the start of the fourth quarter, Black explained that “The referee warned me that if I said another word, I would get a technical. I couldn’t really understand it because in the second half I didn’t really say a word. I didn’t like it.” Because of this, an appeal is believed to be underway as this was the first time Black was called for such a technical.

Tiu steered the Blue Eagles campaign pooling in a total of 26 points and 7 rebounds. Salamat and Al-Hussaini added 10 points each, while Buenafe contributed 8 marks.

Meanwhile, Casio led the Green Archers raking in 19 points and 4 rebounds followed by Maierhofer with 16 marks and 8 rebbies. Meanwhile, Mangahas added 13 points and 6 rebounds.

COMBO ON THE RUN: Itchyworms - Self-titled

Don't expect it to be the same as their previous album. It's nothing comparable to it because they're totally different. This is not a themed album, but everything about the music is still Itchyworms. They have put their own brand of humor and sweetness to their songs, separating them from the rest.

The first single, "Penge Naman Ako N'yan" has been gaining airplay for the last month. I thought it was a song for a soda drink, pantapat sa Project1 ng Coke. Pero napaisip din ako na ironic naman kung si Jazz asa Project1 tapos katapat nila ung main band niya. Ang totoo hindi pala, nagkataon lang din na lumabas itong single na to kasabay ng "Ang Sarap Dito". Out of all the songs, I think this is the strongest contender for their first single. Catchy tune, happy-feel good music and ito yung tipong kung di mo kilala yung Itchyworms, magugustuhan mo sila dahil dito.

Notable filler tracks, "Awitin Para Sa Mga Nagmumuni-muni".

NBA Finals 2008: Boston regains glory!!!

NBA Champions
Looking back, I never expected these two teams to meet in the finals. Boston was considered a super team and looking back at the past (and forgotten) teams, we've seen the fate of these teams fall a million times. Danny Ainge pulled of a shocking trade on draft day, which brought the Big Three together but it didn't mean they would win the championship. Look at the Dallas team where they had Antawn Jamison as a bench, that never worked. That was a team exploding with talent but it was too much and the team eventually burst. This Boston team is different as you can see with unselfish plays and determination to really win games but not relying on offense alone. The distribute the ball well and recognize their teammates considering the presence of the Allen, Pierce and KG. These guys worked their way up, though struggling in the post season starting with Atlanta who barely made the playoffs cut and the LeBron led Cavaliers. It wasn't until game3 of Detroit where they showed their tenacity as the Beast in the East. In the finals series, the battle was welcomed by hype because of the rich rivalry and legacy of the two teams. And it didn't needed much before the Celtics provided us with evidence that
they were out there to play and be the next champions. I have to admit that I was disappointed with Kobe's game. I don't know if he wasn't himself or hurting or should we just commend the great defense that Boston displayed around him. I salute the Celtics for being the champs because they proved their detractors wrong (including myself). I thought their team was a fad and will quickly lose their passion for the game and start playing selfishly but no. It just shows that no matter what the game is, three heads are better than one. Congrats to the Celtics fans!

MDK presents: SLACKERS

Slackers

No penis penetrates a pie in this teen farce - yet another one - but you may want to toss a gooey wad of something at the screen. For starters, what genius thought of calling this twaddle about three college cheaters - Dave (Devon Sawa), Sam (Jason Segel) and Jeff (Michael Maronna) - Slackers? Right away, you think of Richard Linklater's smartly hilarious Slacker, which puts this fluffball at a distinct disadvantage. Even worse is the casting of Jason Schwartzman as Cool Ethan, the loser who threatens to expose the cheaters unless they set him up with gorgeous Angela (James King). Schwartzman isn't bad; he's responsible for the few laughs this movie coughs up (the Angela hair doll he carries is comically perverse). It's just that Schwartzman was the star of Wes Anderson's Rushmore, a classic comedy of school life that further exposes Slackers as a shit stain on the genre and on the young careers of writer David H. Steinberg (he scripted American Pie 2) and director Dewey Nicks. But King, the model with the guy's name, rises above the bilge line just as she did in Pearl Harbor, proving that this looker can survive damn near anything.

KARL ROY AND HIS MOJO

I don't know what the word "mojo" means but It sounds great for a title. Just like the music magazine and certainly the favorite four letter word of Austin Powers - I believe it has something to do with being cool and driving chicks wild. If it is, then that four letter word should aptly stand in a sentence with Karl Roy.
Beerfest
Known as the godfather of Pinoy Funk in the scene, the name Karl Roy was first born with the band Advent Call. I honestly don't know any song from them besides the fact that he is their front man. Coming from the 90's band explosion, Advent Call rocked on with the likes of Teeth, Yano, Rizal Underground, Datu's Tribe, Color It Red and the Eraserheads. But unfortunately OPM weakened and would eventually give in to Death's final call. When the music died, so did the band. The band called it quits and left the hungry loyal fans for more.

Alas, it seemed destiny has a different plan for Karl Roy as he soon found himself playing for P.O.T. It was like night of the living of the dead, every gig was a victory celebration with every one singing to Yugyugan na! P.O.T. created a new vibe and introduced a new sound to the public. Funk was a Rock n' Roll fan's dance music. It had a mix of Jazz, Soul, and the old reliable Rock n' Roll sound. Once you hear their sound it's as inspirational as ever. It's like going black and never going back! The beat of the drums, whaling guitars and Karl Roy's voice became the new face of OPM. Just as they found themselves on the top, Mr. Roy's second band would take another hit. Their promoter apparently spent all their cash on drugs and left them without nothing. It only needed a few words before the band separated and that was hearing "we're broke".

He took a hiatus for a while before returning on stage with some close friends to form Kapatid. With a different take on music, from the POT sound I grew up I was in it for Karl Roy. As a pioneer of sorts, the band was on my watchlist because of him. They were good but not great in my opinion. It's like watching Washington Wizards play because of MJ. I think it's the part in me that secretly wishes for a POT comeback, which limited their potential on my personal musical appreciation standards.

On March of this year, he suffered from a stroke. But good cheers to all his fans as he is on his way to recovery. A long process but I'm sure he'll get back on his way to funky town!

SURFING PHILIPPINES!!!

Everytime people ask me how long I've been surfing, I say that the first time I first got on a board was three years ago. That was the first time, then it took me another year before I could get stoked again. My introduction to the sport, if you will accept the term, was brought up by my cousin. She asked me if I wanted to try it out but I didn't expect that she'd ask me to go with her up north that moment. My reation was, "Siryoso ka ba? Surfing dito sa Pinas?!". I was surprised because I thought you could only surf around in America and Australia. It took a couple of hours before she could prove me and when we arrived in Zambales -the locals who would teach us were all geared up with their rash guards and surf boards. Ever since then, I've always looked forward for the next surf trip.
Photobucket
From the likes of Marcus Adoro to Jericho Rosales to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, they have all been enticed by surfing. Everyday a lot of new enthusiasts wanna learn and from here we can safely say it is a growing phenomenon which will continue to grow and attract more avid learners. Surfing has been around for some time now, I don't know exactly the origin of how it got here but one thing is for sure that it is here to stay!

RIP: Rudy "Da Boy" Fernndez

On June June 7, 2008 the Philippine movie industry has yet lost another one of its movie stars. Rudy "Da Boy" Fernandez never recovered from a cancer and at exactly 6:15 am, that Saturday his body gave up. A celebrated father, husband, movie idol, heartrob, and hero - his image as one of the finest action stars will be remembered in Philippine history.

To tell you the truth, I never saw one of his films yet I am spending my time to make a post about this man because it frustrates me to see a talented man go. Especially in an industry that's already drowning because of the lack of good actors, he was an artist whose skills would surely be missed. I thought anyone would be good enough to be an actor in the Philippines, you just have to be pleasing to the camera and that's it. But after seeing the Starstruck graduates in movies and teleseryes, I was proved wrong.

With this stunning event, I never I figured that the face of Philippine Action Movie would be in its final breath. The guys who dodged bullets aimlessly, threw thunderous punches, and never knew the word fear in their lives. The men who thought us to be tough, to face the challenges in life and to stand up for what is right are now gone. Until then, we will wait for the next Baby Ama...

House Party with BEERFEST!!!

Beerfest
If you wanna get wasted tonight without leaving the comfort of your couch and TV, people, this is the DIBIDI to get! Expect it to be really funny and stupid. If you want some good times, this is it brah! Perfect for a house party interlude given that your gonna get wasted with San Mig and your Granma tonight! Mind you that this is not an intellectual film and so relax yourself and grab a beer. I actually think it would be better to drink while this movie is playing! The choice is up to you. Pinoys aren't into the whole drinking game unlike the Americans, which is why I think they came up with this movie. Which made me wonder.. this film is actually educational since we will get ideas with what to do with beer and friends. Just check it out and you'll see. KAMPAI!!!

PEOPLE INTRODUCED TO US BY THE ERASERHEADS

The Eraserheads are long gone. They are not dead. Each members merely decided to do their own thing. They still rock the music industry but in different bands. They're heralded as the band of the 90's and one of the, if not THE best. They've given us a lot memories and even introduced us to some of their friends. Here is a special list dedicated to my favorite Pinoy band with the people they've made us known.
Photobucket
SHIRLEY (aka the lover girl) - Ang kaibigan ng banda na sobrang in-love! gaya ng mga taong nakikita natin na laging kasama ang BF/GF. Kala mo aso, laging nakabuntot. "Kung maglandian akala mo'y walang katabi". Ang bottomline ay "ganyan ma-in-love!". If you've ever fallen in love, this song pretty much paints the whole picture during the courting stage and every thing seemed surreal.

ALING NENA (aka si bantay este si nanay ng crsuh mo) - A tragic story which is more about the guy and the nanay. A classic tale of panliligaw, where the guy tries to impress the girl by impressing the nanay. Yon, walang nangyari.. :(
Photobucket
JAY (aka the gay guy) - From his story entitled, HEY JAY, we learned that belonging to the third sex was a problem back then. Compared to our present time, it wasn't widely spread and accepted by the public. Jay or being gay was an easy target for maltreatment by bullies, kanto boys and even frustrated parents who can't accept the truth. Good thing, friends of Jay like the band members knew how to deal with the situation. And what's important is that you are alive! this is your life and not theirs, if they can't deal with it then they don't deserve you.

TOYANG - Ang tunay na istorya ng pag-ibig. Madalas natin marinig ang katagang, Love is blind, know no rules and no boundaries. Siguro kasi dahil bata sila nag-asawa.

THREESOME: Heart Evangelista-KC Concepcion-Richard Gutierrez

This is the luckiest guy in the showbiz today! Dingdong, John Llyod, Piolo, even Aga Muchlachs got nothing on him or whoever. man just think who wouldn't be jealous of him when he gets to juggle his time between two hot chicks -KC and Heart. and you call that work?!
Photobucket
KC and Richard-they're like the royal couple now and made it possible for the two network giants to reconcile. we've seen them hold hands and you can just tell there's a connection with them. who knows if its for real or just a publicity, my point here is that he gets to be with her and do "those things" and probably more "things" we don't know about. (hmmm...) I don't have a major crush on her but let's be real, wouldn't you go out with someone like her. ok don't think about her salary from the ads she's been getting, or be blinded by her stardom. i'm talking about her natural beauty and talent. she's cute and sexy and there's something about this picture that tells you how "fun" it is to hangout with her.
Photobucket
enter Heart Evangelista. this is a dumb rhetorical question but what will you do when you have a hot chick dressed exactly like that in the picture is beside you, just broke up with her boyfriend. there you go, you console her and while she still has a hangover from the breakup, you lend a shoulder to cry on, lend your ear and be the man that his man wasn't. or in other words you take advantage of the moment. *grins* but seriously im sure any guy would do this to his hot girl na friend, it just differs with if the guy has pure intentions or evil.

i tried to look for sexy pictures to tell the whole world how lucky and excited richard gutierrez's dick is!

BOSTON CELTICS vs LA LAKERS 2008

Photobucket
This year's finals match-up is a fantasy in the making. After key acquisitions from both teams it wasn't impossible that this season would end up with these two great teams. Just like the great teams that battled in the past such as Russel's team vs Chamberlain's and the 80's team of Bird against Magic. That is how rich the history is between the two. But what we have now are two superstars and legend in the making headlined by Kobe and KG who wish to write their own history. Will the celebration be in the East or West? Lakers or Celtics? That's what we shall find out!
Photobucket
A position-by-position look at the matchups in the NBA finals between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

CENTER: Kendrick Perkins vs. Pau Gasol. The Lakers wouldn’t be here without their midseason acquisition of Gasol from Memphis. He’s a good passer for a big man, making him an excellent fit for the triangle offense, and is shooting 53 percent in the postseason while averaging 17.7 points. Perkins made 61.5 percent of his shots in the regular season and had some strong games in the Eastern Conference finals, including an 18-point, 16-rebound performance in Game 5. Edge: Lakers.

POWER FORWARD: Kevin Garnett vs. Lamar Odom. The Defensive Player of the Year, Garnett increased his offensive production in the conference finals, averaging 22.8 points in Boston’s victory over Detroit. His intensity on both ends of the floor is what makes the Celtics go. The versatile Odom was inconsistent against San Antonio in the Western Conference finals, but rebounded from a poor Game 3 with strong performances in the last two games. Edge: Celtics.

SMALL FORWARD: Paul Pierce vs. Vladimir Radmanovic. Finally in the NBA finals in his 10th year with Boston, Pierce is set to face his hometown team. He has shown in the playoffs he can still be a potent scorer, notably in his 41-point effort to beat Cleveland in Game 7 of the second round, and has become an underrated defender. Radmanovic is a good perimeter shooter who doesn’t do much else, and the Lakers need his jumper to be on to soften a Boston defense that held opponents to the lowest field goal percentage in the league. Edge: Celtics.

SHOOTING GUARD: Ray Allen vs. Kobe Bryant. Allen seemed to break out of his shooting slump in the final two games of the conference finals, averaging 23 points and going 8-of-14 from 3-point range. Bryant, a tenacious defender, will certainly welcome the challenge of trying to get that slump started again. And the league MVP has been at his best in the playoffs, averaging 31.9 points to lead all players in the postseason and shooting 51 percent. Edge: Lakers.

POINT GUARD: Rajon Rondo vs. Derek Fisher. Fisher had a fairly quiet series in the conference finals, but his postseason experience, solid defense and courage to take big shots remain a comfort to the Lakers even when his shot isn’t falling. Rondo’s poor jumper was especially off late in the last round, when he shot 10-of-35 in the final three games. The Lakers will make him beat them from the outside. Edge: Lakers.

RESERVES: James Posey, P.J. Brown, Sam Cassell, Eddie House, Leon Powe, Glen Davis and Tony Allen vs. Sasha Vujacic, Luke Walton, Jordan Farmar, Ronny Turiaf, DJ Mbenga and Trevor Ariza. Posey won a title with Miami two years ago and is a key contributor who will help defend Bryant, but tough to figure out what else to expect from Celtics’ reserves. Minutes greatly fluctuated along with their production for most of them during the postseason. The Lakers counter with a much younger bench that tries to increase the tempo and energy when Bryant is resting. Edge: Lakers.

COACHES: Doc Rivers vs. Phil Jackson. Rivers did a great job molding all the Celtics’ new pieces into a 66-win team. But he’s appeared to lose confidence in some of his role players during the postseason, creating some inconsistent rotations. Jackson, the career leader in postseason victories, did one of his best coaching jobs this season on a team that started with the turmoil surrounding a possible Bryant trade and was never expected to be here. He seeks a 10th title, which would break Red Auerbach’s record. Edge: Lakers.

Celebrity Cars

These are the cars that are more than cars used in movies. They are celebrities, icons, some even overshadowing their human co-stars. They are THE movies that they represent. To some, they are even the real deal talent of the movie.

DOLOREAN

Acting as the co-star of Doc and Marty McFly in the 80's flick BACK-TO -THE-FUTURE. This is one of the most traveled car in the history of man, defying the laws of time it went to the future and back.

GENERAL LEE

From the story of Dukes of Hazzard comes this bright colored candy coated car. They tried to emulate the car as a horse, a modern day horse which you can hop on and scream your YEE HAW like a true blue Texan.

ECO1 aka GHOSTBUSTERS car

Keeping up with the Ghostbusters is not an easy task. You have to be quick, alert and always on the lookout for ghosts. That's why I admire Eco1 for being a mild mannered, ambulance look-alike car that it is.

MACH5

The Matrix brothers, just showed another one of their finest work in Speed Racer the movie. It showcased Speed Racer and his sporty clan with some fast paced cars pedal to the metal racing. Of course, how can we forget his trsuty sidekick, NO not chimchim! The Mach5! I wish I have a car like this, which is similar to a James Bond car since they have buttons that just pops out stuff from all over the car. I just realized MTV's Pimp My Ride should be paying the Japanese/British for stealing thier concept.
